About The Bethlehem School
The Bethlehem School offers a developmentally appropriate program which focuses on overall development. Teachers plan activities which foster social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. We believe in learning by doing. "The process not the product" is most important to children's learning and growing. Expressive art, music/movement, block and dramatic play, books/storytelling, crafts, science/nature exploration, group games, and manipulative toys are all parts of our program.
Daily schedules include a mix of teacher directed and child directed activities. The daily schedule includes free play, circle time, snack, story, music, art and outdoor play in our extra large fenced in playground. These components give children a chance to practice skills such as listening, following directions, taking turns and resolving conflicts with peers. Basic concepts such as letters, numbers, shapes and colors are incorporated into daily activities.
Teacher/child ratios range from 1:4 to 1:7. At least two teachers are assigned to each group of children.
All teachers are certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care.
Philosophy and Goals
We offer a caring, developmentally appropriate hands-on environment which allows children to reach their own optimum level development.
Each child’s natural creativity and curiosity are encouraged as they become involved in a variety of activities to promote their individual strengths and meet new challenges. Individuality is respected and each child’s program is specifically developed to focus on his/her individual developmental level.
Children’s self-esteem is fostered and nurtured. They are encouraged to respect themselves as an individual and as a friend. Our goal is to develop curious, active learners with high self-esteem.
