St. Paul's Generosity Helps Amirah

On Monday, March 9, St. Paul’s delivered 125 Meal-to-Go bags and two large cartons of personal hygiene products to Amirah, all purchased and assembled by the people at St. Paul’s. The staff at Amirah were very grateful for the generosity of St. Paul’s parishioners for providing these needed items.
Amirah was founded in 2011 in response to the increased number of sex trafficking reports in Massachusetts, and the low availability of services or resources for adults who are trafficked in the state. Originally conceived as an outreach services organization, Amiriah now provides housing and residential recovery through group homes and is a multi-pronged service organization, providing mid-term housing, economic mobility and stability planning, long-term housing navigation, comprehensive case management, peer care navigation, and community support.
Because many women arrive at Amirah hungry, when St. Paul’s asked how we could help, Amirah asked for donations of shelf-stable meals to keep on hand to provide for them. The Meal-to-Go bags purchased and assembled by St. Paul’s parishioners are all beautiful, and provide a welcoming single-serve meal that’s also shelf-stable. Each bagged meal contains an entree item, dried produce, a snack item, a sweet treat, and a beverage.
In addition to the meals, parishioners donated several items for Amirah’s "Take-What-You-Need shelves," including tissues, foot/hand warmers, hair care,
and other hygiene items.
Fr. Rob, describing the great response to Amirah’s call for support, said, “I am totally amazed at the generosity of the people of St. Paul’s. Whenever they’re asked to meet a specific need, the parish comes through quickly and with wonderful enthusiasm.” Thank you to all!
